Two-week catch-up

It's taken us about two weeks to get used to Melissa's new work schedule, but we seem to have our feet under us again. Gretchen has tried lots of new foods over the past two weeks, including egg yolk, avocado, cheese, and green bean-flavored yogurt (yech!). The only one of those she really liked was the yogurt. She's also started eating puffs and other age appropriate finger foods. She handles them pretty well and Clayton caught her stuffing five puffs in her mouth at once. Soon she'll be feeding herself all the time. We're getting caught up on eating solids after our allergy scare the first time we fed her. We've given her foods that have rice as an ingredient, and she hasn't had a reaction. We haven't given her plain rice cereal, though. We're hoping she grew out of it.

Gretchen has adjusted to her new school nicely. And Melissa is enjoying the work. Clayton misses playing with Gretchen in the mornings, but he's gotten to spend a little more time with her in the evenings, so it balances.

Because we haven't been able to update the blog in the past two weeks, here is an assortment of photos ... not necessarily in chronological order.

Hanging out with Mommy at Main Street Friday.

Riding the train with Grandma. Daddy looks distracted.

Singing a be-you-tea-full song.

Taking steps.

Seeing double.

Hawkeye is such a good dog. Gretchen loves her. Hawkeye will return the love very soon since Gretchen is eating (and flinging around) more and more solid foods.

Speaking of solid food: Gretchen investigates the fridge.

Learning to use the sippy cup.

She has such beautiful eyes!

Betty has tried the green bean yogurt too and liked it OK. Have you tried tofu? It's a good finger food. We just tried it this week.

We tried tofu about a week ago and she thought it was just okay. I want to try the silken tofu mixed with some fruit, hoping that the creamier texture will be more to her liking. The "square" tofu texture wasn't her favorite. Going to try edamame this weekend.
